Sunflower, 2nd of November 2015.

Watercolors. 18 cm x 22 cm.

Sunflowers / funflowers (above) were painted in the end of August. I sat with my nephews under the parasol and tried to catch transitions from yellow to orange and green. Beautiful.

And the sunflower below was painted by >> Alexander Marshal (1620 - 1682). One could say that he was a botanical illustrator and the painter of flowers (and insects), although Marshal was a rich man who painted mostly for his own pleasure, and less for scientific reasons. He also had a weird habit of showin together flowers and animals in unnatural ratios, as is also the case in the painting below (the dog).
