On comics, part one (22nd of September 2009)

It seems to me that kids are different today, with respect to what I remember when I was a kid. Take comics, for example. I found out that this form of expression is of little interest to today's kids. It could be because they are constantly exposed to more powerful means of visualization and storytelling. By that, I mean spectacular SF movies, shockingly good 3D cartoons and, of course, commercials. Though, something is lost there. The sense that you are alone with the story, that by reading and interpreting it you make the story to a certain extent, that you can retreat from the world and slowly enjoy in the drawings and text in your own tempo and rhythm. Besides, who cares about tempo and rhythm today? They are, since long ago, reaching several hundreds beats per minute, everything is too slow for today's kids (have I already grown old?). Recently, I find my self buying comics here and there. I glance through them and study how these people draw/paint (if possible, I like to do it on the beach, far away from the world). It is nice, regardless of the stories that can be idiotic at times. So, I wanted to do something similar. See also On comics, again.
