Sketches of my dad (19th of March 2012)

Dad in a "pirate" edition (above). The head scarf he is wearing is called šamija in Bosnia. It is a soft, very thin material, usually nicely designed and colored. The name comes from Turkish word شامیه (şâmiya), i.e. Arab شامية (šāmiyya) which means scarf or head scarf (according to Wiktionary). That word is, besides Bosnia, also known in Serbia and Macedonia. I didn't hear it in Croatia.

Dad and I are not very alike physically, but we similarly get unnecessarily excited because of little things. He has learned to control that negative characteristic a lot more than I did, and it happens to him a lot less these days.

On a cozy chair next to the fireplace, it may look as if the outside world and the reasons for unrest do not exist at all.

My dad is an engineer, but he is, especially in the last couple of years, much more interested in fruit trees, forest and the stream.
