Sketches of scientists 2 (21st of June 2013)

portrait, Damir Dominko, pencil, white pastel, toned paper

Some more sketches of scientists. In fact, I have little in common with scientists. At least with the vast majority of scientists I know. But it is possible that my conclusion is more universal and that it does not depend on the profession. Perhaps I should have said: "In fact, I have little in common with most people." Which would probably be a lie. Besides, Rudi says that all people are the same in the first approximation. I quarreled with him twice about it on conference dinners.

UPDATE: (21st of June 2013) Rudi informed me today that he in fact said that "all people are the same in the mean-field approximation."

The sketch above shows somewhat younger scientist, a fresh PhD from the Institute of physics.

And here is our new deputy director of the Institute (above). I overdid the sketch a bit, I liked the cube-like features of his face, so I emphasized them too much, perhaps to the level of caricature. Anyhow, there is something about that sketch that I like.

The sketch above shows the secretary of the Croatian Biophysics Society in a particular mood. Here I somehow caught the mood, more than the exactness of the face. I like this sketch also. It was made during the meeting of the Scientific council of the Institute of physics.

And in the end, the sketch of a scientist from the neighboring institute (Ruđer Bošković Institute) which was made during the meeting of the Croatian Biophysics Society (above).
