Few colors (20th of October 2014)

Paleta 1

In transition of light to shadow on some object, color changes from light tones (light), sometimes completely shiny, white (highlight), to dark tones (shadow), sometimes almost black in fat shadow (deep shadow). It is not always same colors, e.g. in the area of shadow, the object can receive diffusely scattered light from the neighborhood which can be somewhat colored, see >> THIS post.

The transition from light to shadow is a continuous one and in order to be properly represented, formally an infinite number of colors is required. But, sometimes the 3D feel created by the play of light and shadow can be obtained with a very reduced number of colors. This is illustrated by the images in this post (above and below) which I made as a study for a publication that I work on.

Paleta 2

Characteristic colors that I used correspond approximately to the most typical color choices of English speakers discussed in >> THIS post - they thus represent some sort of a "psychological" palette.
